6 things to master before starting out on weight loss goals

So yesterday I decided that I was going to change my life style for good. I promised myself that I was going to eat healthy from today. Today marks and I’m all ready to crush my goals with full on motivation.

You are probably like I have heard of this before, aren’t you? Well this is a different case all right? This time I’m in it to win it.

Annnnnd next thing you know you have fallen off the wagon laying on a couch thinking what happened to the motivation you had?

Is this you? If so, you are not alone love. I feel ya. No matter how hard you work if you don’t have these 5 vital things down you won’t accomplish your goal.

Harsh but truthhh…. I’m telling ya, not gonna lie here my friend. Make these 6 things priorities and you will be on your way to succeed.

Now lets get to it, shall we?

Know your Why

This right here, needs to be addressed before starting any goals. When you set goals you have to write it down why you are starting this goal. What is the real motivation behind starting the goal?

Giving I want to lose 15lb is not an answer. Think about it, we all want to lose weight but specifically why we want to lose it varies from person to person.

Could it be because you want to feel confident?

Could it be because you want to get off medicine you regularly use or because you want to become a role model for your kids?

Your real why helps you move on the positive direction, when you lack motivation.

Before you move on to ready next point I want you to sit down and write all your reasons on wanting to start this journey. Then, evaluate if they are the real reason why you want to lose weight.

This helps pave your road for success.

Allright done writing down?? Okay, moving on…

 Keep your head in the game

Is your head in the game?

If you are ready to crush your goals you have to mentally prepare yourself. Making yourself mentally ready helps you get through on days you feel like not doing what you set out to do.

You may say oh no, you are so wrong. I’m going to continue this time but that’s what we all say right when we start out.

If you are not clearly setting up your goals and mentally preparing yourself for everything that comes along the way then you won’t be able to accomplish your goal.

Don’t expect the result to show up like yesterday

Where do I even start with this? Lots of people expect results without even putting in the work.

Now, it doesn’t work this way at all, especially not with weight loss goals. If you plan on losing weight then you gotta be patience. You have to realize that it’s not going to come to you very fast and in easy form.

It’s going to take hard work and lots of it. Are you ready? Are you ready to keep going even when you don’t see any results?

I want you to answer this question as honestly as possible. This answer will decide whether you are really willing to change for good or you are just saying it to make yourself feel better.

If the answer to the above question is even slightly no then you my friend are not ready to take on the weight loss journey.

You will eventually quit and get disappointed at yourself or blame it on a diet or exercise saying it didn’t work.

The real question is did the diet not work or you didn’t do the work?

Unless and until you are ready to accept that it takes some hard work, dedication and big patience you will not succeed.

Comparing her results with others gets her no where

Comparing one’s results with others is the root of all evils. You will not get very far if you start comparing yourself with others.

When you compare yourself with others you are only comparing their outer self.

You have no idea what their struggle is, what they have been through, what their goals might be so would it make sense for you to compare yourself with others?

You might be just starting on your journey, where as the person you are comparing to have been in the weight loss journey for the past 7 months now.

So you are not being fair to yourself if you start comparing your result with this individual.

Plus let me spill the beans for you here.

You can’t not compare yourself with someone you see on Facebook, Instagram, or fitness magazine. They don’t even look like themselves in real life. It’s the power of Photoshop and posing style that does the magic, honey.

Thus, having falls comparison just kills your results.

Who said healthy living has a deadline?


Oh, we can’t go on a weight loss mission without addressing this. Far too many people I have met have an end goal to their health journey.

You will be surprised to here what some of them have said.

This one of my friend called me several months ago asking me how she can lose weight fast. I asked her how many pounds she desires to lose and by when?

She replied by saying, “I really need to lose 20lb in 2 months before my sister’s wedding. She continued, “ I really don’t care how I lose it, but I wanna look flawless for her wedding.”

I cringe even now while writing this. How in the world are you suppose to lose 20lb in 2 months? There’s no other way unless you want to live in the gym, and starve yourself.

I don’t want you to be this person. REMEMBER health doesn’t have a deadline. You want to be healthy for a lifetime right? Then why do you have a deadline to lose weight?

Everyday, I want you to wake up with the attitude that you are going to own the day. Drink lots of water, eat healthy and balance meal, and workout.

Do what you need to without expecting anything back in return. You will be amazed at the result. I promise, your result will be 10 folds if you put in your heart and soul into it.

 You are your own limit

This contradicts with the above statement about how health doesn’t have deadlines but hear me out here okay. If you limit yourself and your goals to something so small then that’s all you get.

Have a bigger perspective on what you want to achieve. If you want to lose 50lbs then believe that you can lose this. While now you are not going to lose 50lb in 3 months. That’s crazyyyy but picture yourself with that 50lb less than what you are now and then march on your journey.

If you don’t believe that you will eventually lose this 50lb without any deadlines then you know what you will not. If you do believe then you shall achieve.

Don’t let your own limiting belief stop you from climbing the mountain.


Mastering these 6 things is a must when you are trying to lose weight. If you don’t prepare yourself to win then you are definitely preparing yourself to fail.
