You and I both know, eating healthy meals are our number one priority. Despite knowing, sometimes it’s just difficult to make it a habit. I get it. I have been through the same phase as well. We make a schedule to be healthy from tomorrow. Unfortunately, that tomorrow never comes.
We go through this cycle because we don’t realize there are easy ways of being healthy. I have highlighted 5 simple ways to eat healthy without overstressing. These are the same steps I follow and help my group members to follow it as well.
Plan your day in advance
If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail. To be healthy and to lose weight, you have to plan in advance. It’s not always enough to say you will start tomorrow. You have to plan the HOW.
If you just say I’ll start tomorrow and leave it to that, then it will never happen. From now on, start planning your tomorrow when you set a weight loss goal. If you are eating healthy tomorrow then how are you eating healthy? If you plan this in advance then you will not be distracted by shiny food syndrome.
Cook your meal at home
I always say this, but I’m going to repeat it again. No matter what you cook at home, I promise, it will be healthier than what you buy from a restaurant or a fast food market.
While I’m not saying every meal you get from outside is not healthy, but when you cook at home you get to decide your ingredients.
You may think cooking a meal is hard, but it’s very simple. You can simply bake meat and other veggies in the oven, cook in a slow cooker, make a salad, or sometimes just make a nutrient-dense smoothie.
Prepare your snacks in advance
We are gaining weight because of our mindless eating habit. It’s hard to realize how much we consume when we are grabbing food from here and there. This mindless eating habit has to stop if you want to be healthy once and for all.
To do this, learn to prepare your snacks in advance. Make sure your snacks ranges from 100 to 200 calories, so you don’t overeat even if it’s healthy.
I usually eat an apple, hummus, and few carrots, homemade cookie, homemade granola bars, raw veggies, Greek yogurt, and so on. If you plan your snacks beforehand, then you won’t be eating food mindlessly.
I share many snack recipes and most of my group members enjoy them because they are very easy to make and tastes amazing as well. They say it’s kind of like a cheat snack but except it’s not.
Clean your kitchen cabinet
Out of sight = out of mind. I believe in this whole-heartedly. It’s so hard to resist temptation if processed food is all around you.
If you are one of those who has an amazing self-control despite having junk food around you then I salute you, my friend. I probably would be a double size of me if I had junk food lying around me.
If you are like me and also want to educate your family then clean out your cabinet. Kids learn from our actions. Clearing out your cabinet can teach them about eating healthy as well.
Make your grocery list before going grocery shopping
Make a grocery list, so you don’t waste your hard earn money and energy on unnecessary food. If I don’t have a list of what to buy, then I end up buying a whole aisle worth of food because everything around me seems very tempting.
This is why I write down what I need to buy, so I can eliminate on the spot decision. I usually separate out what I need to buy in terms of a good source of protein, carbs, fiber-rich veggies, fruits, snacks, and more. Diving each section and writing down what I need to buy helps me stay on track.
Along with eating healthy, exercising is a must too. It doesn’t have to be intense, but you have to exercise daily to be happy and healthy.
With these tips, you will be surprised how easy it is to eat healthily.
